Ivory Heart

Vivid were my dreams last night
A raven in a velveteen parka flew by
And plucked out my ivory heart

You say “ivory heart? where’d you get that
ivory heart?” well I can’t say
but I knew it would be the end of me
when she plucked out my ivory heart

I took shelter under her sycamore tree
Threw stones, made faces and sang with glee
Just to reap some attention for me

You say “ivory heart? where’d you get that
ivory heart?” well I can’t say
but I knew it would be the end of me
when she plucked out my ivory heart

so I lined my eyes with soot like hers
and I ran as fast as my dream would allow
to get me twin fobs and twin keys
for my little ol’ ivory heart
